Official Rules & General Information

 

 

Acoustic Live is now taking submissions for Acoustic Live 2005. All submissions must include the following, postmarked no later than July 15th (EXTENSION, all submissions must be recieved by JULY 29th!), 2005:

 

 

-  Acoustic Live Submission Form: [.pdf] [.doc] [.txt] [.zip]
-  CD containing 3 songs.
-  1x sheet artist bio / information.
-  $25 Submission Fee.

 

1:  

Artist / band(s) must submit original work. Submission fee is non-refundable. Acoustic Live is not responsible for late, lost, damaged, misdirected, postage due, stolen, or misappropriated submissions. All submissions will be confirmed by email. Submissions will NOT be returned.

 

2:  

Make checks payable to "Acoustic Live." DO NOT send cash. All credit card transactions are done thru Paypal (.com) "money request" and will include a $1 transaction fee. For more information on credit card payments please see the “Submission Fee Payment” section of this submission form.

 

3:  

Acoustic Live is open to all ages. If artist / band(s) are under 18 years old, the signature of a parent or guardian is required. Employees of Acoustic Live are not eligible to compete or perform.

 

4:  

Acoustic Live is an acoustic showcase. Each artist / band(s) will be allotted 20 minutes performance time. Artists chosen to perform will be expected to follow instrumentation guidelines to remain eligible:

 

5:  

Maximum artist(s) per act not to exceed 3 except wherein vocalist does not play an instrument where artist(s) are not to exceed 4. Acoustic guitars, bass, hand drums are permitted instruments. No electric guitars, amplifiers, effect pedals or drum kits. Keyboard(s) are permitted with no accompanying sounds/sequences. All keyboards &or specialty instruments must be approved by Acoustic Live prior to performance(s).

A designated panel, established by Acoustic Live, will review each submission. Each submission will be ranked in a point system from which 84 artists with the highest ranking will advance to the second review panel, from which 42 artists will be chosen to showcase. The second review panel will be made up of, up to 10, industry professionals and representatives from Acoustic Live sponsors and affiliates.

 

8:  

Each week 5+ industry professionals will judge artists / band(s) based on songwriting, performance, musicianship and originality. Judges TBA, information made available on-line.

 

9:  

Finalists will be determined by the close of each Acoustic Live showcase. A winner(s) will be determined on the final night of Acoustic Live. Failure to appear forfeits an artist / band(s) opportunity to participate. All decisions are final.

 

10:  

Prizes will be awarded at the close of the final showcase. Artist / band must be present to win. Some prizes have no tangible form. A prize page explaining how to obtain each prize will be provided. It will be the responsibility of the artist to claim their prizes within 6 months of, or by the date(s) stated within the information provided by Acoustic Live or the respective sponsor.. Unclaimed prizes will not be the responsibility or liability of AL or the respective sponsor.

 

11:  

There will be no transfer and substitution of prizes except as necessary due to availability in which case a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded. All prize (product) warranties are non-transferable. All winners agree to release Acoustic Live and Acoustic Live sponsors from any and all liability regarding or resulting from prizes won. All federal, state, and local taxes are the sole responsibility of winner. All prizes will be awarded to the artist or band name as it appears on the submission form, and division of prizes is the responsibility of artist or band. Artist(s) will be responsible for completing all necessary releases and paperwork before receiving prizes.

 

12:  

In the event of an unforeseen venue/date change, Acoustic Live cannot be held responsible for participant's expenses and will notify and reschedule with artists and judges.

 

13:  

Participants in Acoustic Live showcases, grant permission to Acoustic Live and Acoustic Live sponsors to use artists / band(s) name, likeness, and voice for future advertising and publicity purposes without additional compensation. Entrant will retain full rights to all works submitted for the competition. Music will not be used without the expressed consent of artist.

 

14:  

By submitting materials to the Acoustic Live, entrant agrees to be bound by Acoustic Live/TLAMS Entertainment Services entry rules and regulations established herein. Rules are subject to change without notice (but we'd notify you if we did change the rules).

 

15:  

I have read, understood and accept the rules of Acoustic Live listed on the website (acousticlive.net) and within this submission form. I understand that the entry fee is non-refundable. If entrant is under 18 years old, the signature of a parent or guardian is required.

Frequently Asked Questions!

Q:  How is Acoustic Live judged?

A:  Judging is based on songwriting, originality, performance and musicianship. During the submission panel judging is based solely on songwriting and originality.

Q:  Can I use a keyboard?

A:  Yes, but you can only use piano sounds, without effects. Keyboard amplifiers can be used or direct to the PA system.

Q:  Can our drummer use a full drum kit?

A:  Drummers can use either hi-hat with a snare and brushes or a hand drum.

Q:  It says 3 members on stage, or 4 if our singer doesn't play an instrument, can the 4th member be a background singer?

A:  Yes. As long as the 4th person on the stage only sings then you're still within the rules.

Q:  Can our bassist play a regular bass or does it have to be acoustic?

A:  A: Bass can go through bass amp, and does not need to be acoustic. However, no pedals, effects or sound modifying devices will be allowed.
